Information for engineers studying Japanese

Petter Markkula är tidigare student vid Linköpings Universitet och önskar att träffa ingenjörer som studerar japanska för att informera om sina erfarenheter av arbete i Japan samt för rekrytering till sitt företag. Föreläsningen kommer att äga rum någon gång under vecka 18 och mer information om exakt tid och datum kommer längre fram.

“Min tanke med ett besök skulle vara att dela med mig av erfarenheter från de senaste 10-15 åren med Linköping/Meiji University, Mercedes-Benz i Yokohama, Toyota i Nagoya och Triathlon Group i Tokyo. Berätta om de möjligheter och utmaningar som nuvarande finns på japanska arbetsmarknaden för studenter med deras profil. Till slut vill jag även berätta om vårt företag och vad vi sysslar med.”

Cherry blossom viewing (hanami) in Stockholm

As previously announced, we will go to Kungsträdgården in Stockholm to see the performances during hanami (cherry blossom viewing) the 16th of April.

The board will book our tickets via Swebus. We leave at 8:00 from Linköping and arrive in Stockholm at 10:55 to do a quick sightseeing before the event starts at 13:00. We then leave at 17:30 from Stockholm and arrive in Linköping at 20:30.

How to book:
Go to https://www.swebus.se/SwebusExpress_com/ and choose FROM: LINKÖPING Fjärrbussterminal, April 16. TO: STOCKHOLM, April 16. Make sure “One way trip” is unchecked. Choose “youth” or “student” (same price) to the right and click “search”. Choose your preferred ride and pay. 🙂

We’ll see you at the station in Linköping before the bus arrives and are looking forward to the trip! Please note that this is not an officcial EAA event, but rather an event initiated by the board of the EAA, so please invite non-EAA members aswell. They are just as welcome!

Spring dinner party: save the date!

Spring dinner party will be held on the 14th of May in Baljan, Kårallen. We have a lot of fun planned out, so you don’t want to miss it!

Conversation Corner

There will be no CC next week because of exams. We will announce when CC starts again. Until then, happy easter!

Dags att söka fadderiet

Då det nu är dags att börja förbereda inför mottagning för nästa läsårs asienbasårssmåttingen söker det nya styret efter medlemmar som vill gå med i fadderiet. Fadderiet är den grupp som planerar inför och har hand om småttingen under mottagningsperioden i augusti. Den ansökande ska ha möjlighet att närvara vid planeringsmöten fram till denna termins slut samt vid själva mottagningsperioden. Det kommer också förekomma planeringsmöten inför mottagningen med preliminär start i början på augusti.

Ansökan till fadderiet skickas till general@eastasian.studorg.liu.se. De som går basåret nu rekommenderas inte att söka då ni kommer att vara upptagna med er egen nollning. Har ni frågor så får ni gärna skicka mail till erito621@student.liu.se eller prata med mig (Erik) eller någon annan styrelsemedlem.

Cherry blossom viewing (hanami) in Stockholm

The 16th of April the Japanese Association in Stockholm is holding an event in Kungsträdgården in Stockholm to celebrate the cherry blossoms. It is a highly appreciated event and there will be many preformances to look forward to! Read more about the event here. We would like to attend the event together with our members and will arrange the trip to Stockholm. If you’re interested, talk to us at CC or fill out this form.  Please fill out the form before March 15.

Japanese Studies Summer Program 2016 at Saitama University

Greetings from Saitama University, Japan!
We hope this email finds all of you well.

We are pleased to introduce you our “Japanese Studies Summer Program 2016”
at Saitama University.
As part of the efforts to develop our campus internationalization, Saitama University is eager to invite more incoming international students.

This 4-week intensive “Japanese Studies Summer Program” will be conducted from June 13 to July 8 (see the attached brochure for more details).
We truly appreciate if you make an announcement to your students who are interested in Japanese Studies/ Language.

“Japanese Studies Summer Program 2016” at Saitama University Duration : June 13 (Mon) – July 8 (Fri), 2016 Application Deadline: March 31 (Thur), 2016 Applicants from our partner universities will be exempted from paying the registration and tuition fees.
Students can apply this program from your office via email: kokusai@gr.saitama-u.ac.jp.
with their fully filled application with ID photo, a passport copy, and their official transcript from their home institution.

About textbooks:
You don’t need to prepare any books for classes. We will prepare Japanese textbook for you if you take Japanese class.

About SU International-House (Accommodation on campus)
・You can stay at International House from June 11th(Sat) to July 10th(Sun) for 50,000 JPY.
・You can pay that cost by credit card when you arrive here.
・You should check in on June 11th and leave on July 10th.
・For Summer Program students, shared room is only available.
・If you want to arrive earlier than June 11th or leave after July 10th, Please prepare your accommodation by yourself.

Teknatmässan

EAA kommer att delta i Teknatmässan som hålls i Colosseum den 9 mars mellan klockan 13:30-16:00. På Teknatmässan kommer LiUs alla tekniska program vara representerade och även andra universitet i landet finns på plats. Mässan är främst till för gymnasieelever, men också för Tekniskt Basår samt Asiatiskt Basår som senare ska välja program. Det är ett bra tillfälle att ställa frågor, så kom gärna förbi!

Spring meeting

As previously announced, the spring meeting of 2016 will be held on the 3rd of March in C3, at 18:00. If you want to apply for the board of 16/17 but missed the deadline for applications, you can participate in the spring meeting and apply for a position. Some seats are still open for application. Please see this post for more information.

Also, due to the spring meeting, there will be no CC this thursday.
